Bajaj Auto makes changes in the upcoming Pulsar 200 NS

Bajaj Auto finally unveiled their all new motorcycle, 2012 Pulsar in India on 30th January and recently there were speculations  that some of the Bajaj Auto dealers had started taking bookings at INR 5000 .
But recently we have been notified by one of our readers Pranay  that Booking of 200 NS has been delayed to end of April.

Another breaking news coming from the sidelines is Bajaj Auto is busy making changes to production Version of Pulsar 200 NS .

The list of changes include :
  • Bajaj Auto is  ironing out small issues and improving the quality of the bike.
  • The company is making improvements to the production version as prototypes showcased earlier had small niggles.
  • Bajaj Auto will be giving the Pulsar 200 NS a more powerful headlight. The prototype had a 35 watt bulb, but the production version will have a 55 watt bulb.
  • Bajaj Auto has also made changes to the rear mudguard, which will now have a matte black treatment, instead of the glossy finish we have seen on the concept version.
  • The instrument cluster lights will receive some changes too, for improved visibility in the day.
  • The bike will be offered with MRF and TVS tyres and the company is expected to give an option to the buyer to chose his preferred make
About the technical aspects ,Pulsar 200 NS engine will have 3 sparks - Triple Spark Ignition System instead of the traditional twin - spark system which are seen in the current Pulsar motorcycles. Pulsar 200 NS is powered by a 199.5 cc engine that will generate a maximum power of 23 bhp @ 9,500 rpm and will deliver a maximum torque of 18.3 Nm at 8,000 rpm.

Dry weight of new Pulsar 200 NS is 145 kgs. Bajaj new Pulsar 200 NS will have a top speed of 136 kmph, making it one of the fastest motorcycle made by Indian manufacturer. Bajaj new Pulsar 200 NS will be able to accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 3.8 seconds while it will take just 9.8 seconds to cross 0-100 kmph mark. Apart from these exceptional figures, Pulsar 200 NS delivers a mileage of 58 kmpl when driven at a constant speed 55 kmph.

It has been really heartening to see that even hardcore "Pulsar" haters couldn't stop themselves from praising the new Pulsar. It should probably see light of day in April end and that the price will be under Rs 1 lakh , lets see how it fares in the Indian market .
And mind you we are the first one in media – to burst out this news.

Bajaj Auto discontinues Pulsar 220 Street Fighter version .

Recently we came to know that Bajaj has Discontinued Pulsar 220 Street-Fighter Silently .
Bajaj had launched another variant of Pulsar which was 220 S where 'S' stands for street a couple of yeas ago .
It was around INR 3000 less than the Bajaj Pulsar 220F the F referring to the quarter fairing . The looks of the bike were similar to that of the Pulsar 200 dtsi . Pulsar 220S was minus the bigger fairing and the 55W projector headlamps that featured on the Pulsar 220F .

After the unveiling of the Pulsar 200NS , we noticed that the number of Pulsar 220S featuring on road had dropped considerably , then while checking the  Bajaj’s official website it had  no mention of the 220S in  the bike manufacturer’s product portfolio.
We also came to know from some of the dealers that in the monthly sales report, Bajaj Pulsar 220 street fighter didn’t catch up so well in the market .

With the launch of Pulsar 200NS which is packed with the best in class features some of which are even new to the Indian masses . This is definitely a strategic move by Bajaj so that when the Pulsar 200NS is launched it gets the entire spotlight .
With Bajaj announcing the launch of fully faired Pulsar variant , expect the Pulsar 220 F to also be discontinued
What do you think about this move by Bajaj ?
Do you think the 220 Street Fighter should continue?
Let us know through your comments .

Bajaj Auto sells 5 million PULSAR'S.

From a bike to a religion and from a religion to a mania...the Pulsar stands as a true testament to a counter-culture. A culture that challenges mediocrity, laughs at convention while imbibing a live free, ride hard spirit. Engraved in the DNA of every Pulsar is an attitude that is also translated to every biker, who gets his daily dose of pride riding a Pulsar.

Hardly had Bajaj thought that they would be able to sell five million units of the Pulsar brand, when they launched the bike more than ten years ago. During that time Hero Honda was in full swing with its Splendor , we could see every second person in India riding a Hero Honda Splendor . The only performance oriented bike were the CBZ and the Fiero to some extent .
People just used bike for commuting , what else can you do with a Splendor ??

But after Bajaj launched its Pulsar series , it totally redefined the Indian Automobile sector , you can consider it as a revolution . The launch was done with Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 . From there on , Bajaj never looked back and has still been going strong with the Pulsar brand. The mark of five million units is certainly an achievement in itself. The announcement of Bajaj Pulsar crossing the five million mark was made during the declaration of the last month’s sales report .

Generation of Bajaj Pulsar's
The journey for Pulsar series was full of criticism but inspite of all these barriers , Pulsar series was always received well among the customers which made the Pulsar brand successful .
Around the world only few brands have been able to reach this milestone , few of the bikes from Indian contingent who have reached this milestone include the Hero Honda Splendor , Hero Honda Passion and Bajaj Discover .

As far as Pulsar is concerned, it crossed the one million mark in 2006. In about three years’ time, the bike crossed the three million mark. It took only a year to reach the four million mark. Then within a year Pulsar rolled out its 5 millionth unit .WOW !!!

Bajaj Auto is now ready with an all-new Pulsar 200NS which might be available in showrooms by April end , if the bike is received well among the Pulsar Maniacs then there is no stopping the Pulsar which might double its pace in the current financial year.

Bajaj Auto Dealers open bookings of the 2012 Pulsar 200NS ?

Bajaj Auto finally unveiled their all new motorcycle, 2012 Pulsar in India on 30th January . Bajaj did not reveal the price of new Pulsar motorcycle at the launch but it was speculated to be somwhere around INR 80,000 to 90,000 . Bajaj new Pulsar 2012 variant is christened as Pulsar 200 NS and is expected to be released in this month.

Though there is no official news from about Bajaj about the booking of the all new Pulsar 200NS , but we came to know from our sources that few Dealers have already started taking bookings of the Pulsar 200NS .
Though we are not sure whether this is a rumor or in reality . But if it has really started then this move by the dealers could give hardcore Pulsar fans an edge when the official bookings of the Bajaj pulsar 200NS starts later this month .

Its been a just over 10 years since we in India were introduced to the Pulsar series from Bajaj. We saw it grow from strength to strength year by year and saw a lot of changes that made this motorcycle a favorite to many. Many engine variations, even more design changes and a lot more small bits that were added made every iteration of the Pulsar family all the more special over the years .Pulsar 200NS is the outcome of their 10 years of experience and supremacy in the Indian Market .

About the beast ,Pulsar 200 NS engine will have 3 sparks - Triple Spark Ignition System instead of the traditional twin - spark system which are seen in the current Pulsar motorcycles. Pulsar 200 NS is powered by a 199.5 cc engine that will generate a maximum power of 23 bhp @ 9,500 rpm and will deliver a maximum torque of 18.3 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Bajaj will manufacture Pulsar 200 NS at their unit in Chakan near Pune.

Another big announcement coming from the sidelines of the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS unveil is that Bajaj Auto is already working on a fully faired variant of the Pulsar 200 NS not only that  Bajaj has added more enthusiasm by announcing the launch date of the Bajaj Pulsar 350.

Bajaj Avenger Cruiser To Get 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS Engine– Rumor or Fact?

Bajaj Auto recently unveiled the Pulsar 200 NS, which uses an all new triple spark engine. After the unveil of the P200 NS happened, there have been talks of what will follow. A full faired version of the Pulsar 200 NS has been confirmed, so has the launch of the Pulsar 350 in 2013. Smaller Pulsars will be launched too in their second generation avatar, using parts and technology from the Pulsar 200 NS. But among all this Pulsar talk, we seem to have forgotten the good old Bajaj Avenger, which is a very commendable motorcycle in its own right.

Now this is pure speculation but Bajaj Auto will eventually upgrade the Avenger with the Pulsar 200 NS’ engine. The two-wheeler major has done it before too with the Pulsar 220′s engine finding way into the Avenger. The Bajaj Avenger uses the Pulsar 220′s 219.89 cc motor to produce 19 PS of power at 8400 RPM and 17.5 Nm of torque at 7000. This is marginally lesser than the Pulsar 220 which produces 20.8 BHP at 8500 RPM and 19.12 Nm at 7000 RPM.

Now what Bajaj Auto might do is put the Pulsar 200 NS’ 199.5 cc engine into the Avenger. This 3-spark, liquid cooled unit features 4-valve technology and could give a tremdous boost to the performance of the Avenger. We can expect around 23 BHP of power and 18 Nm of torque on the Avenger, which will make the cruiser quite quick for its size and price. The Avenger has a 14-litre fuel tank, including a 3.4 litre reserve, which will be ample for long distance cruising (if Bajaj Auto’s claim of 58 km/l mileage at a speed of 55 km/h is to be believed).

With 260 mm discs at the front and 130 mm drum at the rear, brakes of the Avenger are good. The Avenger runs on 90/90 x 17 tyres at the front and 130/90 x 15 tyres at the rear. The suspension is telescopic and hydraulic shock absorber and the adaptation of a monoshock will make a tremendous difference to the bike. At a weight of 154.4 kgs, the Avenger is not really heavy. The 60/55 w headlamp are good for the highways. Can Bajaj start a motorcycle revolution for cruisers?
