TVS recently lost the third spot to Honda motorcycles India since it does not have star mass selling product in the 100 or 125cc segment to increase sales.
Few months back TVS upgraded the Apache series. There were lot of speculation about the bike regarding the performance and styling of the bike.Apache enthusiasts were expecting a 200-250cc bike but TVS just came up with a slew of changes in the design of the bike and retained the same engine as in the previous RTR series.
TVS are coming up with a slew of products to regain their position in the Indian market !!
Vinay Harne, president NPI, TVS Motor Company said: "Currently we produce only up to 180 cc and below; we will be entering the bigger bikes segment. There is a trend of moving towards bigger bikes; while the numbers are small, the growth is quite high."For many TVS fans who expected a higher dispplacement bike, it will be too far for them to wait for higher capacity bikes in 2014-15.We always banked on the R&D team of TVS to come up with something new always to compete with the other rivals but this time TVS would be too old by 2014-15 & other would be leading the pack.
Bajaj recently came up with the 200NS which has been received well by Bike enthusiasts, many other companies have already entered the 200cc segment. TVS definitely needs a product to stand against these 200cc rivals to increase their sales.
The company plans to invest Rs. 300 to 400 crores for the production of new models as well as revamping the old ones. The company is in progress and focusing on automatic transmission technology and hybrid technology.TVS Motor will launch six new products by 2014-15 which would include 200-250cc bikes as well.
