It’s been quite a while since Yamaha Motor India has made a big splash in India, like it did way back in 2008, when the Japanese two wheeler giant showcased the Yamaha R15 motorcycle, a motorcycle that has been responsible for a paradigm shift in the Indian motorcycle scene. Now, Yamaha wants to push the envelope bigger and building upon the success of the R15, the Japanese brand is all set to pull the wraps of yet another technologically packed motorcycle, the 300cc Yamaha R30 super sport motorcycle.
The Yamaha R30 will be launched by the end of 2012 and is currently ready for testing duties which should begin on the 4th of April as 4th of April happens to Yamaha’s brand ambassador John Abraham’s birthday. No less a personality than Jorge Lorenzo will be the test rider in India, to help finetune the motorcycle for the Indian conditions. The Yamaha R30 will feature a twin cylinder layout in the V-Twin configuration. The 2012 Yamaha R30 supersports motorcycle is expected to produce a peak power of 42 Bhp and a peak torque of 33 Nm.
The engine will have Diasil cylinders, just like the Yamaha R15. It will weight just as much as an R15 and is thus expected to be the fastest motorcycle in India, this side of the 600cc. Now, that’s a big, big push into high performance, isn’t it? ABS will be standard and so will upside down forks up front and a fully adjustable monoshock layout at the rear. Yamaha hopes to price this motorcycle under 2 lakh rupees so that the 300cc 2012 Yamaha R30 runs rings around competition, read CBR250R, the upcoming Hyosing 250R and well even the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Oh, and Happy April Fools Day
