FULLY FAIRED 2012 BAJAJ PULSAR 200 NS IN THE WORKS : RIP YAMAHA R15 VERSION 2.0, HONDA CBR150R !

Another big announcement coming from the sidelines of the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS unveil is that Bajaj Auto is already working on a fully faired variant of the Pulsar 200 NS. With Rajiv Bajaj confidently asserting that the Pulsar 200 NS’ price tag will be well under the INR 1 lakh mark, this announcement opens up a host of possibilities for the fully faired 2012 Pulsar 200. The first and the biggest possibility is that the fully faired Pulsar 200 has all the potential to undercut both the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 and the upcoming 2012 Honda CBR150 in terms of pricing. Initial indications indicate a price close to the erstwhile fuel injected Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi.

The fully faired 2012 Pulsar 200 has all the ammo to be head and shoulders ahead of both the Yamaha and the Honda. Though bigger in engine capacity than the R15 and CBR150R, the pricing of the 2012 Pulsar 200 will mean that these motorcycles will be under immediate threat from the flagship Bajaj motorcycle. Specifications wise, the fully faired 2012 Pulsar 200 features a bigger engine and much more power and torque than both the Yamaha R15 and the Honda CBR150R. The 23 Bhp of the Pulsar is much higher than the 17 Bhp and 18 Bhp outputs of both the R15 and CBR150R respectively.

The Pulsar is also torquier than the R15 and the CBR150R. However, the 4 valve, DOHC head of the CBR150R is perhaps but one bragging point that CBR150R will have. However, the triple spark plugs on the 2012 Pulsar 200 elevates the motorcycle to an all new level. Also, the 2012 Pulsar 200 continues to be carbureted when compared to the Yamaha and Honda, both of which feature fuel injection. Also, the Pulsar is much more heavier than the Honda and Yamaha, more so the fully faired version. This is perhaps one factor in which the Pulsar loses out to the R15 and the CBR150R.

Also, while the R15 has been developed keeping the race track in mind, the 2012 Pulsar 200′s handling is yet to be tested in racing conditions. But will these two factors make all the difference for the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 and the Honda CBR150R. making them more compelling buys than the fully faired Pulsar 200 is something that only time and a full blown road and track test of these motorcycles can tell.  For now though, it seems that the fully faired 2012 Pulsar 200 at a price lower than the R15 and the CBR150R will have an upper hand.
