Royal Enfield takes the crown of one of the most exciting two wheelers launches at the Auto Expo 2012. The Thunderbird 500 is definitely an enthusiast’s delight from the very angle you look at it. Situated at not one of the very best of places, it seemed made out of a little haste.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500cc:
On January 5th 2012, Royal Enfield launched the much awaited Thunderbird 500.
Its powered by a 500cc engine generating a 27.2 bhp power output through an electronic fuel injection system.
The matt Black Thunderbird 500 stole the show and by far. Every square inch of the motorcycle was classic to look at.
High Points:
- Matte black finished engine
- Seat has been completely redesigned to suit the new foot pegs position.
- Separately mounted pillion seat can be removed to accommodate luggage.
- Bungee hooks are provided to strap up that extra luggage during those long rides.
- The most noticeable is the tail lamp which is LED, unlike the earlier round shaped tail lamp. We found this to be a little out of sync with the design of the bike.
- The trip meter is now digital and a projector lamp is provided for low beam along with a halogen lamp for high beam.
- Rear Disc Brake
Royal Enfield Cafe Racer concept

- The pricing will be a little over the current RE Classic 500.
- The Clip on Handle-Bars add to the character of the bike.
- Has Ohlins Suspension at the rear.
- Rear view mirrors clamped to the handle bar weight balancing joints looks neat.
- Classic tacho and speedometer.
- Forged clutch and brake levers.
Royal Enfield Desert Storm Classic 500:
As far as Desert Storm Classic 500 is concerned if u see it live for the first time you will definitely fall in love with it.
It looks raw and macho.
RE Merchandise:
Then there was all this RE merchandise which signified masculinity right from leather belts, riding jackets to pants, helmets, riding shoes etc.
