Bajaj Auto launches 'KTM Duke 200' at Rs 1.18 lakh

The country's second-largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto today launched a sports bike, 'Duke 200', from Austrian partner KTM's portfolio and said it plans to roll out three more products in as many years.

KTM has announced the pricing for its much awaited Duke 200!
Yes, hold your breath - it's been launched at a killer introductory price of Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) price tag and that clearly undercuts its immediate competition, the Honda CBR 250R by a whopping margin.

Now that the KTM Duke 200 has been launched in India, and at a killer price to boot, Bajaj Auto, through Austrian motorcycle firm KTM, has upped the ante in the Indian performance motorcycle market. The pricing, although introductory at INR 1,17,500 ex-showroom Delhi is the biggest thing that the Duke 200 has got going for it. With a better than expected pricing, Bajaj Auto has done it again, by paying the value card, that the firm has often used in the past  to pummel competition into submission. It is of small wonder then that Bajaj Auto leads the premium sports motorcycle segment in the market.

The biggest shivers that the KTM Duke 200 will induce is on the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 and the Honda CBR250R. Though both these motorcycles are like chalk and cheese from the KTM Duke 200, due to their completely different capabilities and positioning, the KTM Duke 200′s pricing, bang in the middle of these two motorcycles, and the Duke 200′s higher power to weight has made comparisons inevitable. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 has a power to weight ratio of 130 Bhp per ton while that on the Honda CBR250R is 155 Bhp.

On the KTM Duke 200, this figure is a whopping 184 Bhp per ton, besting both the R15 and CBR quite comprehensively. The KTM Duke 200 also brings a higher level of equipment like upside down front forks and an underbelly exhaust, both features that will give bigger bragging rights to its owners. The Duke 200 will be sold in 32 Bajaj ProBiking across the nation in 30 cities and even in Kathmandu, Nepal. The showrooms will be done up in KTM orange to highlight the arrival of KTM’s first model in the Indian market. Unofficial bookings are currently open although the bookings will officially will begin on 1st February with deliveries scheduled for the middle of February. Also on display were the KTM Accessories .
