Fire brigade now equipped with six rapid response Royal Enfield Electra 350UCE motorcycles

Most Indian cities are prone to extremely crowded streets generally restricted access. In such places, a fire breaking out can be deadly as the fire brigade will often have no way to reach such spots as conventional fire engines are usually too big to venture into slums and crowded marketplaces. All that is set to change as the Pune Fire Brigade has now received a very innovative tool to fight fire in the form of fire fighting equipment mounted on Royal Enfield Electra 350UCE motorcycles.

City fire brigade second in state to get rapid response motorbikes equipped to tackle blazes in hard-to-reach locations
The fire brigade is now better equipped to tackle fires erupting in slums, with the introduction of six rapid response Royal Enfield Electra 350UCE motorcycles yesterday, which can be used to negotiate narrow lanes.

This fire fighting Royal Enfield is powered by a 346cc unit construction four stroke engine outputting a peak power of 20 Bhp and a peak torque of 28 Nm. This motorcycle features slots for 4 custom built tanks that are mounted at the rear. Currently though, two 10 liter tanks are mounted onto the motorcycle with option of doubling the capacity if and when the need arises. These tanks hold  water as well as compressed air foam in a 9:1 ratio, to be dispensed in case of a fire mishap. This apart, the motorcycle also features a first aid box and gel blankets as additional equipment to deliver care to fire burn victims.

The total cost of each motorcycle with the fire fighting equipment comes to 7 lakh rupees. Each Royal Enfield motorcycle customized as a fire fighting bike can seat two firemen. Also, since motorcycles can move through city traffic much faster than conventional fire trucks, it will now become possible to reach blazes much quicker than ever before. So, getting to small blazes will now be much quicker and efficient that ever before. Also, these fire fighting Royal Enfield motorcycles will be introduced in more Indian cities over the coming months.
