KTM DUKE 200 BOOKING AMOUNT REDUCED TO INR 20,000; WAITING PERIODS RANGES FROM 30-90 DAYS!

Bajaj Auto has been getting an overwhelming response to the KTM Duke 200, the first motorcycle that Bajaj has launched as a part of Austrian motorcycle maker KTM’s Indian range. The Duke 200 is made-in-India, and thus comes with an affordable on-road price tag of under INR 1.3 lakhs. Bajaj Auto is selling the KTM Duke 200 through its ProBiking outlets across India, which have now been converted to KTM stores. The booking amount for the KTM Duke 200 has now been reduced to INR 20,000 from the previous 30,000. This said, there is a cancellation charge of INR 3,000 if the booking is cancelled.

This cancellation charge is apparently a move by Bajaj to prevent excessive bookings and speculators booking the Duke 200 to make a quick buck by selling their bookings for a premium. The current waiting period for the Duke 200 is 90 days although dealers report that Bajaj is producing 2000 units of the Duke 200 each month to ensure that the waiting period is a much more manageable 30 days. Now that the KTM Duke 200 is already in the market, April 2012 will see another big volume spinner for Bajaj Auto, with the new 2012 Pulsar 200 NS being launched.
