Royal Enfield might launch Twin Cylinder motorcycle in the next 3 years.

One of the best bike producing brands in India, Royal Enfield  is considering introducing a twin-cylinder motorcycle in India over the next three years. There was a buzz  last year that Royal Enfield could introduce
V-Twin or a parallel twin engine capacity ranging between 650 cc and 700 cc , but this time around it could turn into reality .
Royal Enfield Interceptor 700cc
In 1911, prior to the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, Royal Enfield they supplied large numbers of motorcycles to the British War Department and also won a motorcycle contract for the Imperial Russian Government. Enfield used its own 225 cc two-stroke single and 425 cc V-twin engines . So its not that Royal Enfield are constructing a twin Cylinder motorcycle for the first time , they have done this in the past as well .Not only this Royal Enfield used to make parallel twin motorcycles in the 1950s and 60s called the Interceptor, which features a 700cc, air cooled, parallel twin cylinder engine. Royal Enfield also made 500cc parallel twin motorcycles before the 700cc versions . They decided to discontinue it due to various emission norms laid by the Government .

The Twin Engine Royal Enfield is likely to be fitted with the pushrod engine system in line with the company’s current engine family, the new bike may be powered by a 600cc to 1000cc engine and cater to customer demand in the higher horsepower category. The main idea to keep the pushrod design is to maintain the classic appeal of the motorcycle, with the characteristic low revving, high torque nature that most Royal Enfield motorcycles are well known for.
Chief executive officer, Venki Padmanabhan told Autocar Professional that the design of the twin-cylinder model will not stray from the company’s traditions and that it will be an offshoot of the simple British design of the model of the 1950s and '60s.
Royal Enfield V-Twin Engines used in the Past .
Other two-wheeler manufacturers use overhead cam (OHC) engines in their motorcycles which are basically hi-speed and hi-torque engines whereas the Twin Engine Royal Enfield is going to be operated by pushrod design with an overhead valve(OHV) which are generally  hi-torque, slow-speed engines with a very rugged construction and develop maximum power at a lower rpm .

There is a higher probability that Royal Enfield might retain a Parallel Twin Cylinder  powered by a 600cc to 1000cc engine unlike the V-Twin layout which operates in the Harley Davidson Motorcycles .

These bikes would be manufactured in India only. One of the main reasons for bullet going into higher capacity bikes is that several other companies have launched powerful bikes and many people do buy them. And thus they planned to come into the game by launching higher capacity bikes and compete with brands like BMW, Suzuki, Harley Davidson, etc. And people would go for Royal Enfiled bikes as they know it from the beginning and being manufactured in India.
The Royal Enfield twin cylinder motorcycle could become a reality in the next 3 years

Yamaha planning to launch 250cc motorcycle in India

Yamaha Motors India has determined the potential of 250cc sports bike in the Indian market and has planned to manufacture a 250cc sports bike locally. When a vehicle is manufactured locally, it attracts zero import duty, thereby allowing the firm to price the product reasonably. When a motorcycle is assembled, it will attract a 30% duty, which will of course be collected from the customers by increasing the price tag. Kawasaki Ninja 250R is one such bike in India which is assembled here, which when compared to the price of locally manufactured CBR250R is very high.

We earlier mentioned in our article of upcoming motorcycle launches in 2012 that Yamaha may launch its 250cc motorcycle in India. According to news reported by Business Standard, the company is now planning to manufacture its 250cc motorcycle in India which is schedule to launch in this year.
HMSI has been clocking an average of 3,000 units of CBR250R every month, which is local made. When the Yamaha’s adversary, Honda, has gained the success in the 250cc sports bike category, the firm obviously should not shy away from launching a product in the same segment.

The firm has collected feedback from customers who already possess a 250cc sports bike in India. They feel that there is still a lot of scope for improvement in their 250cc bike which could make it a perfect sports bike. Yamaha is studying the market condition and requirement by the book.
Yamaha already sells Fazer 250 in several foreign countries. The question is, whether they will launch the Fazer 250 or design a new bike especially to cater the Indian market.
Roy Kurian, national business head, India Yamaha Motor, said, “The market for 250cc is growing and we are studying that. There are a couple of models in that segment and people are upgrading to 250cc bikes. We will do 100 per cent localization of that bike”.
It doesn’t make any sense in speculating the R25 without any official news from the firm. We’ll keep you updated on this, so keep visiting bikoholic.com

Hero Motocorp to get into 250cc and above capacity bikes

Hero MotoCorp, is the world's largest two-wheeler maker has and still 250cc and above segment is untouched by the number one motorbike company in the world .  Right now Hero Motocorp has Karizma ZMR and Karizma R as the highest segment motorbike to offer but even these bikes are at most 225cc bikes.
Karizma ZMR was anticipated to be a 250cc then but that didn't happen . Many other Bike companies operating in India have already made themselves ready to enter this segment very soon and take it by storm.

After Hero parted ways with Japanese major Honda, its partner for 27 years, last year, industry watchers had identified lack of cutting-edge technology as the biggest challenge for the Indian firm to hold on to its leadership position in the market. Hero had last week announced a technology tie-up with EBR, its first partnership after splitting with Honda.

It will be a step forward for the cash-rich company in its effort to get out of the shadow of Honda, which has become one of its toughest rivals in the domestic market after the March split.
Hero sells over six million two wheelers every year in India where it holds 56% market share. Under the joint-venture agreement with Honda, Munjals-owned Hero was restrained from exporting vehicles.

After the collapse of the Honda JV, Hero has started setting up sales and distribution channels cross Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia for its motorcycles and scooters.

The Munjal-family that owns 52% stake in the company plans to increase its exposure to overseas market which it wasn't allowed until 2010 by Honda that operates 28 motorcycle production bases in 21 countries (as of April 2011) globally.

Hero is largely India based entity with over 98% of its sales limited to the domestic market. The ownership in the American company is expected to enable Hero to develop fresh technology and churn out new products faster as it compete with its erstwhile ally Honda amongst others.

Right now EBR is working on products for Hero Motocorp which will be developed and ready, to be fitted in the new scooters and motorbikes to be launched by early 2013. Hero certainly does not desire to launch 1,000cc superbikes as of now because it wants to reach there in a steady and swift motion, step by step.So do expect a quarter liter version from Hero Motocorp in 2012 .

Hiroyuki Suzuki , CEO & MD , Indian Yamaha Motor said,"We have developed a scooter that has got the Yamaha DNA and signifies ' Cool and Beauty image , which are the right words for describing young Indian girls ".
This clearly states that Yamaha Ray scooter will be targeted towards woman riders and expected to bear a price tag of around Rs. 50,000/-

Yamaha plans to launch more scooter models in India , the reason for this rapid growth in scooter is due to high demand of scooters from the segment of working women. As a part of its plan for 2012 company speculates to sale 450,000 units in domestic market and export 1,90,000 units.

Royal Enfield USA unveils new model: C5 Special

Royal Enfield USA's top-of-the-line Bullet Classic 500 now comes as a bigger motorcycle, the C5 Special. You may need a magnifying glass to see the difference in photographs, but you'll feel the difference in your bottom.

The difference to your bottom line is likely to be only about $100.

For that you get a larger, 19-inch front wheel (as opposed to two 18-inch wheels on the C5 Classic), a somewhat different riding position and a straight front fork as opposed to the offset fork on the C5 Classic. The fork is the same length as before, but with different geometry.

The C5 Special will be available in all 50 states.

According to a notice that went out to U.S. Royal Enfield dealers last week, the C5 Special will appeal to larger riders who find the C5 Classic smallish but prefer its styling to the B5 and G5, which use the 19-inch front wheel.

The new fork and larger front wheel will give a more cruiser like feel on the highway. The C5 Classic will remain the choice for those who want maximum handling.

It is made in India and exported around the world. A bike that costs around Rs 1,20,000 (or around USD 2600) sells for almost the double the amount. Yes, bikers around the world seem to love it and that is the reason why Royal Enfield is all set to launch the Bullet Classic C5 Special in the US market for around US $ 6350. The company will also sell another variant, the Bullet G5 for around US $ 5995.

The new C5 Special will be available in all C5 colors except the Red Chrome.

Bad news, however, is that it is a two-stroke engine, and we know that selling new two-strokes in India is banned, which means no Kawasaki Ninja 150RR for India
Ninja 150 is one of the best motorcycles to roll out of Kawasaki's factories, and this bike was born with many rivals such as Honda NSR and Suzuki FXR .If Kawasaki would have come up with a 4 stroke engine a stage would have been setup where we could see Yamaha’s R15, Honda CBR150R and Kawasaki Ninja 150R facing head on competition. Though Indians won't be able to lay their hands on this machine, this bike is intended for the Asian market. Garware-Hyosung to launch GV250 and GV650 this year

With the Indian biking segment getting more and more fierce , the two wheeler market is opening up to performance oriented machines . As far as the current scenario is concerned , the 250cc and 650cc segment is hot as iron .The reason this segment is gaining momentum is because it has been received well among both youngsters and motorcycle enthusiasts .Recently we had the launch of KTM Duke 200 in this month to spice up the 250cc battle and now its the Garware-Hyosung joint venture. Garware Hyosung is coming up with bigger plans for Indian market than expected.

The Indo-Korean automobile firm  has announced its decision to bring in two cruisers, GV250 and GV650, in Indian by 2012. Garware Hyosung GT250R will be launched in the middle of 2012 which will have its bookings open during the month of May. A couple of months later, the unfaired version (naked version) GT250N will be launched. GV250 and GV650 will be the fourth product lined for launch by Garware Hyosung for the year 2012.

Garware Hyosung GV650 cruiser :

The 2012 Garware Hyosung GV650 cruiser will be powered by a 650cc, V-twin engine and a five speed gearbox. The DOHC, 8 valve, liquid cooled engine generates peak power of  70 Bhp and 60 Nm of maximum torque. The GV650 cruiser is expected to be launched by the month of May at a
price of Rs 5 lakhs.

Suspension : Upside-down telescopic forks (front), twin shocks (rear)
Brakes : 300 mm disc (front), 270 mm (rear)
Weight : 230 kgs

Garware Hyosung GV250 cruiser :
The GV250 cruiser will have the GT250R’s engine in a slightly detuned format for reducing the torque capacity. The 250cc engine will be operated through a five-speed gearbox. The air-oil cooled, fuel injected engine of the GV250 cruiser will deliver peak power of 25bhp and 24Nm of peak torque. The price of GV250 is expected be around Rs 1.8 lakhs . This cruiser is expected to be launched by the month of July in India

Suspension : Telescopic suspension(front) ,  twin shocks (rear).
Brakes : 270 mm disc (front) , drum brake(rear).
weight : 170 kgs.
Fuel tank capacity :16L

Now, both these cruisers, GV250 and GV650 will be brought from Korea as completely knocked down units. The assemble for these cruisers will take place at the Garware-Hyosung’s Maharastra assembly unit.

Garware Hyosung, which has not yet made a big impact in the Indian bike market, has a meaty chance to do it with the GV250 and GV650 cruisers. The current cruiser market is dominated by the Royal Enfield with its classic series bikes and Thunderbird. Both these vehicles are placed below 2 lakhs range.

The upper range cruisers from Harley Davidson fall above 6 lakhs range. So, Garware hyosung will have a chance to cruise in to the 2 to 6 lakhs cruiser range in India and build a steady market for it.

Preview: 2012 Suzuki GSX-R 750

GSXR 750 has had quite a history. Introduced in 1985, it has remained popular as a not so heavy bike with 600 cc of engine. Suzuki again released the GXS-R in 2011.With more performance and lesser weight, no wonder it was an instant hit.
This year again Suzuki introduces the 2012 GXS-R 750 with the latest feature being a Marble Daytona Yellow/Glass Sparkle Black option. This one comes with a 750 cc inline four stroke featuring over-square bore for higher-reviving performance. The engine has retouched camshaft profiles, shot peened connection rods and some other delicate parts.

Suzuki dual throttle valve fuel (SDTV), injection with its fine-spray 8 –hole injectors contributes in the better atomization of fuel and hence improved combustion. Other tweaks include 4 in 1 stainless steel exhaust system with a titanium muffler. Suzuki Exhaust tuning (SET) helps improve torque and throttle at mid and low RPM

In the electronics department, the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector(S-DMS) offers push-button selection of two racing-developed engine controls for your choice and also the condition of the road you are riding. The front has lightweight 41 mm Showa Big Piston Front Fork, with a single Showa rear shock featuring adjustable rebound compression and height.
The brakes segment has a 310 mm discs and radial-mounted, four-piston monoblock callipers, while the rear has a ingle 220 mm disc held by a single-piston calliper. An analog tachometer with LCD readouts of speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter, reserve meter, clock, coolant, pressure indicator, S-DMS form the instrument herd.
Front tyre is 120/70ZR17M/C (58 W) tubeless and the rear is 180/55ZR17M/C (73 W) tubeless and a 6 speed mesh transmission gives them the power to run.
Metallic Triton Blue/Glass Splash White and the optional Marble Daytona Yellow/Glass Sparkle Black will almost come at the same price. No difficulties in making any decision. Also it’s unique in its class, one of the trend setters and on top of that it’s tried and tested to be awesome. So there is hardly any question if it will do good or not
