DSK Hyosung prices the Comet GT 250R at INR 2.75L (ex-showroom Delhi)

Hyosung split up with Garware motors and now they have partnered real estate major DSK group. This happened when they were going to launch their much awaited Comet GT 250R which had to be postponed due to this split up.They were going to launch the bike on 13th June and here it is.

Hyosung along with their new partner have launched Comet GT 250R at INR 2.75 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
The pricing is close to Kawasaki's Ninja 250R, we speculated it to be between 2-3L and it has definitely turned out that way.Certainly its pricing is a bit on the higher side compared to Honda's CBR 250R though the engine and other specifications differ in both these machines.Due to such high pricing an individual would any day prefer the Kawasaki Ninja 250R.It would be interesting to see if in the future DSK Hyosung localise the parts and bring down the price of the bike so that it stands a good chance in the already competitive Indian Biking sector.

This is the first release by the Hyosung-DSK joint venture, lets see how it fares in the already competitive 250cc segment. This launch is really a good news for Bike enthusiasts who now have more option to choose from in the 200-250cc segment .

The super-bike has been modified for the Indian roads in order to get the ARAI certification. Noise reduction, saree guard inclusion and other changes have been made to get the certification done. The bike looks very much similar to the GT650R just that the specifications change, so the exteriors remain the same but its totally a different body inside

The Hyosung GT250R is powered by 249 cc V-twin, DOHC fuel injected engine which is capable of producing 28bhp of power at 10,000Rpm and 22.68Nm of torque at 8000Rpm. With an overall weight of 171kgs, Hyosung GT250R can reach a top speed of 175 kmph.

Hyosung - DSK would have 18 dealers , the bike would be available in  White-red, red-black and silver-red shades. It will be available in the showrooms in 5 days with 1 month delivery time.

World's second largest two wheeler Hero Motocorp  which separated from Japan’s Honda, had showcased two motorcycles and a scooter, a scooter 110cc Maestro, the 110cc Passion X Pro and the 125cc Ignitor at the Auto Expo 2012. Out of which Hero Maestro was launched in the month of March at a price of INR 45,500 (Ex-showroom Delhi).

Hero Motocorp is gunning straight at Honda's Stunner with the launch of its all new Ignitor .The Ignitor is the actual competitor for the Honda Stunner. It is again powered by same Stunner engine with minor tweaks . The Ignitor’s engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox and is capable of producing 11 PS at 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 11 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The design of the Ignitor resembles the Stunner to a very great except the change in the graphics and art works apart from this you also get a digital speedometer while Stunner has the traditional analog speedometer.Ignitor is available in four colors, Vibrant Blue, Sports Red, Pearl White and Panther Black

In 2011-12 Hero MotoCorp not only made a successful transition into a new entity during the year, but equally importantly, also raised the bar several notches higher to significantly improve upon our earlier performance. They are still the market leaders even after their split with Honda, but recently Honda is posing a big threat with its new launches in the entry level segment.
It will be interesting to see how the Hero Motocorp Ignitor will be received by the masses with its looks resembling Honda Stunner.

DSK Hyosung to launch Comet GT 250R on 13th June.

Recently Hyosung split up with Garware motors and now they have partnered real estate major DSK group. This happened when they were going to launch their much awaited Comet GT 250R which had to be postponed due to this split up.But now Hyosung are all set to launch their 250cc beast with their new partner DSK.There is an official confirmation that Hyosung Comet GT 250R would be launched on 13th June between INR 2-3L.This would be the first release by the Hyosung-DSK joint venture, lets see how it fares in the already competitive 250cc segment.

With the Indian biking segment getting more and more fierce , the two wheeler market is opening up to performance oriented machines .The reason this segment is gaining momentum is because it has been received well among both motorcycle enthusiasts .Recently we had the launch of KTM Duke 200  to spice up the 250cc battle and now its the DSK-Hyosung joint venture.

Recently we had notified you guys about the future plans from Hysoung for the Indian market and now here it is.  Hyosung is going to launch the GT250R  COMET and  GV650 Cruiser . From speculative launch dates of last year to March 2012 to April and May 2012, now it seems  that the bike should be finally launched on the 13th of June. This is really a good news for Bike enthusiasts who now have more option to choose from in the 200-250cc segment .

In the past  Hyosung who had launched the Comet 250 many years ago in India, through Kinetic Engineering Limited, which imported a limited number of these motorcycles for the Indian market and now they are again making a re-entry with a joint venture with Garware Motors .

Now the most important aspect , the pricing of the bike . It is speculated to be around INR 2- 2.5 lakhs which would be between the pricing of Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Nina 250R .

New Honda CBR150R vs Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 : Game On.

Honda surprised us in a very sweet way, when it unveiled the CBR150R at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
Honda has definitely upped its ante in the 150cc segment and this bike will go in head to head competition with the currently popular Yamaha R15. Yamaha launched the latest version of the R15 last year, called R15 Version 2.0. Here we quickly take a look at how does both these bikes feature and would the CBR150R really give a tough time to the R15 Version 2.0.

Technical Specifications :
Honda's new CBR150R comes with a Twin Tube frame construction Diamond, while the Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 2.0 brings the delta box.

Honda's new CBR150R machine type carries CS150RE, Liquid-Cooled, 4-Step, DOHC, single-cylinder 149.4 cc, and the diameter measures 63.5 x 47.2 times. 11,0:1 compression ratio engine. Machines capable of burst power up to 17.55 hp at 10,500 rpm engine speed and maximum torque of 12.66 Nm at 8500 rpm. Supply of power and torque output is channeled to the rear wheels through a 6-speed transmission.

Honda's new CBR150R supported tank capacity 13.1 liters of fuel supply and injection system (PGFM-FI). Rival Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 given ammunition type Liquid-cooled engine, 4-Step, SOHC, single cylinder 149.8 cc, and the diameter measures 57 x 58.7 times. 10,4:1 compression ratio engine. Machines capable of burst power up to 16.76 hp at 8500 rpm engine speed and maximum torque of 15 Nm at 7500 rpm. Supply of power and torque output is channeled to the rear wheels through a 6-speed transmission.
Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 supported tank capacity 12 liters of fuel supply and injection system.

From the technical data is visible if on paper, Yamaha YZF-R15 will excel at the lower and middle engine speed. This is not apart from the character-type SOHC engine and under square (57 x 58.7), which incidentally makes more pull evenly from under the engine rev up the middle. It is also seen from the torque output of the Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 that is superior to 15 Nm at a lower engine speed 7500 rpm . Thus from these technical statistics we can say that ,
Power is a bit more in the CBR150R but when it comes to torque Yamaha R15 wins with 15Nm at 7,500rpm while CBR150R manages only 12.66Nm at 8,500rpm.

There is little difference in weight of both bikes with CBR150R weighing 138Kgs and R15 weighing 136Kgs. Ground clearance is bit more in CBR150R with 190mm while in R15 its 160mm only. Another important factor is the rear seat in R15 which is not suitable for long rides specially in India while the one on CBR150R is nice with grab rails.

Bikoholic verdict :

To measure the functional as an urban vehicle with a level of congestion and traffic flow "stop and go" high, it seems Yamha YZF-R15 V2.0 is more fitting as an option. Besides the issue of a lower purchase price, at least there is an excess of this Yamaha lineup, the posture is more petite. Although for the affairs of a little less maneuverable than its rivals.

While the new Honda CBR150R with posture and weight are a bit more gambot more fitting as a lifestyle vehicle or night life, where traffic is not too dense. Thus the rider can feel a powerful performance in a lap top. Or as an option as a vehicle short and medium distance touring. Sensation on the new Honda CBR150R will be more valued for the winding road full of bends or straight line that takes a long pull. Moreover, the support device front brakes are superior to its rivals.

So now the question now arises is whether CBR150R  better than the R15. Yamaha fans disagree that no 150cc Indian bike is a threat to Yamaha r15 due to its aggressive & beautiful styling with colorful side fairing & also the fact that Yamaha launched new colors for R15 version 2.0 at the Auto Expo 2012.

Talking about the Mileage and Top Speed of these two beasts , both the bikes deliver around 35 to 40Kmpl depending upon how you ride or maintain it and top speed around 135Kmph. But one factor in which Yamaha R15 V2.0 scores is its pricing ,there is difference of INR 10,000 in price of both bikes. Yamaha R15 costs around Rs.1.7L ex-showroom while Honda CBR150R is almost Rs.10,000 costly and the cost is Rs.1.16L ex-showroom
The game in the 150cc segment has just got more interesting !

Now is your turn to determine dreams and needs between the two ...

2012 KTM Duke 200 - Ride Review

KTM Sportmotorcycle AG is an Austrian motorcycle, bicycle and moped manufacturer.
KTM is most commonly known for its off road motorcycles though in recent years it has expanded into street motorcycle production . They are the acknowledged world leaders for off-road motorcycles, and have made a habit of dominating off-road motorsports events. Indian giant Bajaj’s stake in this European firm has steadily climbed to a hefty 39 percent, which makes it high time we ride our first KTM.

The single-cylinder 125 Duke is a street bike jointly developed by KTM with Bajaj and already introduced in select European markets. It’s taken no time to charge into the lead and become a segment leader there, while Indians have patiently stood by waiting for a 200cc variant of the same bike to be specially prepared for our market. The eagerly anticipated KTM 200 Duke will be backed by the sales and service might of Bajaj Probiking. It boasts remarkably potent specifications, which is why we couldn’t wait to get behind the handlebars and tell you how it all comes together as a package.

The bike looks sporty, feels sporty, and don’t go by the 200cc engine, because this monster is expected to generate 25 Bhp of maximum power which is much higher than the normal 200cc commuter bikes which deliver 15 to 17 Bhp power.

The new KTM Duke 200 is very distinctive and attractive sports bike which carries lots of attitude with it. The advanced aerodynamic design used in the new KTM Duke 200 is extraordinary and has a great charismatic effect which spells bounds the costumer with its unmatched appearance and racer look.
The new bike is specially designed for the racer with dynamic body graphics which is very impressive. The front portion of the bike has only cowl which has stylish halogen headlight in it which is very well stacked and looks very elegant. The straight handle bars of the new bike KTM Duke 200 is also very sporty and also very comfortable, specially designed for racing purpose. The stylish turn indicators are placed beneath the front cowl and looks very stylish and unadulterated. And the riding saddle is roomy and well padded, although the same can’t be said for the compromised pillion seat. Split alloy grab bars lead to a slender tail lamp, behind which extends a lengthy mudguard and number plate holder. The revolutionary and stylish large and bold alloy wheels of the new KTM Duke 200 will enhance the style and looks. The rear portion of the bike is also very impressive with sweeping style side indicators. The rear tyre-hugger and saree guard are parts we feel the 200 Duke would look best without, but you can’t help but marvel at the sleek, clear-lens turn signal indicators on this spanking new motorcycle. A ‘stand down’ warning system is standard.

The distinctive center console comprises of fuel gauge, speedometer, trip meter, turn indicator signal, etc. The stylish and unmatched fuel tank of the new KTM Duke 200 is also very appealing and has a feel of racer bike in it. The foot pegs available in the bike are very stylish and tuck in neatly when unused.
Overall quality, as well as the turnout of rubber and plastic parts is as good, as expected on the KTM 200 Duke.

You couldn’t ask for a more tech-rich engine on an Indian motorcycle. The new KTM deploys a short-stroke, four-stroke and single-cylinder, 199.5cc powerplant with 72mm bore and 49mm stroke measurements. State-of-the-art specs with no-compromise engineering ensure you receive the works; fuel injection, liquid cooling, a twin-camshaft-driven quartet of valves and a bantamweight, compact, six-speed gearbox.

The riding position is upright, comfortable and good for daily use with the wide handlebars providing excellent leverage. Ride quality is good, pliant and still firm enough to enable sporty handling, but our ride was too brief and only over smooth surfaces, so a final verdict must again remain reserved for our road test. The KTM 200 Duke handles with a light, nimble feel, always steering with neutral manners and the MRF radial front and rear tyres provide terrific grip. This is a stable bike at all speeds, with superb cornering manners and brakes which always offer a powerful and reassuring bite.

We expect the KTM 200 Duke to return close to 25-30kpl for every litre of fuel. Bajaj is offering a variety of KTM merchandise as optional with this bike, including a pair of tasteful knuckle guards.

Also to mention is the KTM Duke 200's lap timing . The KTM  Duke 200's 0-60 kmph time is 3.3 sec while its 0-100 kmph time is 9.2 seconds , which is quite impressive .

KTM Duke 200's Rev Limiter , Key Code Card , Mileage,Top Speed plus some more details revealed!

The KTM Duke 200 is the first of many KTM’s that will come to India via the 40% Bajaj connection.A few media outlets were invited by Bajaj Auto to spend some quality time with the Duke 200 and give thier feedback . No doubt it is an outstanding performer but there was a small disappointment, Bajaj had introduced a rev limiter in the KTM Duke 200 which kicks in at 10,000 RPM. This restricts the speed at a mere 126  km/h which won’t be liked by the motorcycle enthusiasts.Bajaj Auto seems to have addressed the problem somewhat and increased the limit from 10,000 to 10,500 RPM thus taking the top speed to about 138 km/h (on the speedometer).

When you hit 10,500 rpm, the rev limiter cuts in quite sharply; so sharply that riding at full throttle, even in 6th gear is impossible as the ECU keeps killing the power when the bike touches 138 kmph. They bike definitely can go way faster. At a constant 137 kmph though, everything is fine and you can keep cruising. Increase the speed by just another 1 kmph and engine seems to be stuck deciding between delivering full power & delivering no power. That’s how sharp the cut off is.. In case you won’t be satisfied with the speed, you have to wait for sometime as we have news of people working on removing the rev limit altogether.

All KTM Duke 200s which are being delivered to the first customers across the nation have had their rev limiter raised by 500 rpm to 10,500 rpm. So, the top speed of the Duke is now 138 Kph on the digital speedometer it comes with. with an average speedo error of about 5%, the Duke 200 effectively does a true 130 Kph, which is no means a slow speed. Even so, speed hungry folks will have to resort to after market piggy back ECUs or remaps to get past the rev limiter on the Duke 200 or go in for a sprocket change to improve the true top speed by 5-10 Kph. According to the on-board computer, we obtained mileage figures between 21 & 34 kmpl depending on the riding conditions and speeds. Expect no more than 22-23kmpl if you ride around the city mostly in the first 4 gears. On the highway, we obtained a decent 34kmpl while cruising in 6th.

  • Bajaj is offering a 2 years/30,000 kilometer warranty on the Duke 200 with free service intervals at 1,000 Kms, 5,000 Kms and 10,000 Kms.
  • For the first 1,000 kilometers, the Duke 200′s revs will be limited to 7,500 rpm as a measure for good running in of the engine.
  • This limit will be raised to 10,500 rpm post 1,000 kilometers.
  •  Service interval for the Duke 200 is 5,000 Kms.

A surprise touch on the Duke 200 is the key chain that it comes with. The key chain (known as the Key Code Card) is a smart card which contains all your service information and you can get your bike serviced from any location in the world, yes, in the world. All you need to do is swipe this card to retrieve your motorcycle's service data . By this new innovative idea there's no need to carry the service booklet for your general services and warranty claims.

KTM 200 Duke is a special motorcycle, just as comfortable puttering around town as a zippy commuter bike or being thrashed while you attack your favorite section of twisty tarmac. KTM and Bajaj have certainly found a sweet spot, as the Indo-Austrian KTM 200 Duke has all the trappings of quickly becoming a best-in-class 200cc street motorcycle. All in all, the KTM Duke 200 brings a lot of refreshing features, many of which are segment firsts and mates it to a high performance-high value package .Deliveries of this motorcycle have already begun and you can head to your nearest KTM store to test ride the Duke 200.
