Bajaj Auto is now the World's Third Largest Motorcycle Company.

Bajaj Auto launched many bikes in various segments and totally redefined the Indian Automobile sector and with launch of its Pulsar series it gave a new dimension to the Indian Automobile sector.Hardly had Bajaj thought that they would be able to sell five million units of the Pulsar brand, when they launched the bike more than ten years ago.Once known for its iconic scooter Chetak, Bajaj Auto has now transformed itself into a global motorcycle brand. With so many milestones in recent years Bajaj has edged out most of the companies in its competition.

In the year 2011-12 Bajaj Auto sold over 3.8 million units of motorcycles worldwide which makes it world’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer. Honda is the global leader of motorcycle whereas India’s largest two wheeler company is Hero Motocorp. If Bajaj continues to have such staggering volumes then its not long when Bajaj surpasses these companies as well.

The journey for Bajaj Auto was full of criticism but inspite of all these barriers , Bajaj has always been received well among the customers which made Bajaj a successful brand.

Around the world only few brands have been able to reach such high volume figures, it’s truly remarkable for the company which was once known for its bad quality

Bajaj has lot of successful motorcycle brands in their stable with the Discover and Pulsar series ruling their respective segments. Also Bajaj Auto’s Boxer is the largest selling motorcycle brand in the African region.
Bajaj currently has 10% market share of global motorcycle market and it aims to increase it up to 30% mark.

Bajaj Auto is now ready with an all-new Pulsar 200NS which might be available in few weeks.
Lets see how it performs in the already competitive 200cc segment.

Bajaj Auto sells 5 million PULSAR'S.

From a bike to a religion and from a religion to a mania...the Pulsar stands as a true testament to a counter-culture. A culture that challenges mediocrity, laughs at convention while imbibing a live free, ride hard spirit. Engraved in the DNA of every Pulsar is an attitude that is also translated to every biker, who gets his daily dose of pride riding a Pulsar.

Hardly had Bajaj thought that they would be able to sell five million units of the Pulsar brand, when they launched the bike more than ten years ago. During that time Hero Honda was in full swing with its Splendor , we could see every second person in India riding a Hero Honda Splendor . The only performance oriented bike were the CBZ and the Fiero to some extent .
People just used bike for commuting , what else can you do with a Splendor ??

But after Bajaj launched its Pulsar series , it totally redefined the Indian Automobile sector , you can consider it as a revolution . The launch was done with Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 . From there on , Bajaj never looked back and has still been going strong with the Pulsar brand. The mark of five million units is certainly an achievement in itself. The announcement of Bajaj Pulsar crossing the five million mark was made during the declaration of the last month’s sales report .

Generation of Bajaj Pulsar's
The journey for Pulsar series was full of criticism but inspite of all these barriers , Pulsar series was always received well among the customers which made the Pulsar brand successful .
Around the world only few brands have been able to reach this milestone , few of the bikes from Indian contingent who have reached this milestone include the Hero Honda Splendor , Hero Honda Passion and Bajaj Discover .

As far as Pulsar is concerned, it crossed the one million mark in 2006. In about three years’ time, the bike crossed the three million mark. It took only a year to reach the four million mark. Then within a year Pulsar rolled out its 5 millionth unit .WOW !!!

Bajaj Auto is now ready with an all-new Pulsar 200NS which might be available in showrooms by April end , if the bike is received well among the Pulsar Maniacs then there is no stopping the Pulsar which might double its pace in the current financial year.

Bajaj Auto caught testing an all new Discover or could it be the new Pulsar 150?

We saw Bajaj Auto gunning straight for the jugular of the world’s largest motorcycle maker, Hero MotoCorp, with a brand new television Ad campaign for the Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi commuter motorcyle, called “chalta nahin, daudta hain” .Now they are in the news once again and this time  Bajaj Auto has been spied testing an all new Discover, which like the 2012 Pulsar 200 NS, could spawn an all new motorcycle series.
But whether its the new discover or an all new Pulsar 135/150 is still unknown .
The thing that deviates our mind whether its a new Discover or Pulsar is the installation of a monoshock, which has kept us guessing whether its a Discover or Pulsar 150 .

Recently we had seen Bajaj unveiling the all new Pulsar 200 NS then there was other big announcement coming from the sidelines of the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS unveil is that Bajaj Auto is already working on a fully faired variant of the Pulsar 200 NS. With Rajiv Bajaj confidently asserting that the Pulsar 200 NS’ price tag will be well under the INR 1 lakh mark and now there is a speculation of the all new discover unveiling in next year or so , the price at which it will be positioned at remains unknown at the moment.

The Pulsar 200NS will be launched in the month of April and along with that Bajaj  is also working simultaneously on the next gen Discover or even Pulsar 150,  thanks to our friend Rohit Paradkar who has spotted the new Discover/Pulsar which is being tested in India and could be launched by early 2013. Like the Pulsar the Discover too has been a big success for Bajaj Auto and we have always seen the goodies that are on the Pulsar always to some extent feature on the Discover as well . So expect a few goodies from Pulsar 200NS to feature in the all new Discover/Pulsar 150 .

Highlights of the New Discover/Pulsar :

  • Small faring
  • Digital-anolog instrument cluster.
  • Gas filled Mono shock absorber at the rear.
  • New Alloy wheel design
  • New Exhaust
  • New Rear Fender
Bajaj Auto though, seems to be focusing more on the finer aspects of motorcycling like better performance and more fun per kilometer rather than sheer volumes. Bajaj’s motorcycles being more profitable for the company, than competitors. The latest Discover/Pulsar might help them tighten their hold in market .

Bajaj Avenger Cruiser To Get 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS Engine– Rumor or Fact?

Bajaj Auto recently unveiled the Pulsar 200 NS, which uses an all new triple spark engine. After the unveil of the P200 NS happened, there have been talks of what will follow. A full faired version of the Pulsar 200 NS has been confirmed, so has the launch of the Pulsar 350 in 2013. Smaller Pulsars will be launched too in their second generation avatar, using parts and technology from the Pulsar 200 NS. But among all this Pulsar talk, we seem to have forgotten the good old Bajaj Avenger, which is a very commendable motorcycle in its own right.

Now this is pure speculation but Bajaj Auto will eventually upgrade the Avenger with the Pulsar 200 NS’ engine. The two-wheeler major has done it before too with the Pulsar 220′s engine finding way into the Avenger. The Bajaj Avenger uses the Pulsar 220′s 219.89 cc motor to produce 19 PS of power at 8400 RPM and 17.5 Nm of torque at 7000. This is marginally lesser than the Pulsar 220 which produces 20.8 BHP at 8500 RPM and 19.12 Nm at 7000 RPM.

Now what Bajaj Auto might do is put the Pulsar 200 NS’ 199.5 cc engine into the Avenger. This 3-spark, liquid cooled unit features 4-valve technology and could give a tremdous boost to the performance of the Avenger. We can expect around 23 BHP of power and 18 Nm of torque on the Avenger, which will make the cruiser quite quick for its size and price. The Avenger has a 14-litre fuel tank, including a 3.4 litre reserve, which will be ample for long distance cruising (if Bajaj Auto’s claim of 58 km/l mileage at a speed of 55 km/h is to be believed).

With 260 mm discs at the front and 130 mm drum at the rear, brakes of the Avenger are good. The Avenger runs on 90/90 x 17 tyres at the front and 130/90 x 15 tyres at the rear. The suspension is telescopic and hydraulic shock absorber and the adaptation of a monoshock will make a tremendous difference to the bike. At a weight of 154.4 kgs, the Avenger is not really heavy. The 60/55 w headlamp are good for the highways. Can Bajaj start a motorcycle revolution for cruisers?
